Waterloo Co-operative Residence Incorporated is a large student housing provider built, owned, and operated by students.

Each year, hundreds of students choose the friendly, open community of WCRI to live while attending Wilfrid Laurier University or the University of Waterloo, which is just across the street from our main buildings on Phillip St., Waterloo.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

  1. WCRI is entirely governed by students, following a democratic process which has proven to be effective since 1965.
  2. WCRI has the best student environment ever. The co-op offers countless possibilities for social interaction and the fulfillment of most students’ needs and interests while also providing a peaceful, clean and comfortable environment for academic work.
  3. WCRI provides opportunities for its members to learn new skills and practice skills already learned. Members can volunteer to take part in many aspects of the organization's activities and the governance of the Co-op.
  4. WCRI cares about the community and the environment. We are continually looking for ways to improve our interaction with and impact on our community, the neighbourhood around us, and the planet.
  5. WCRI rates are maintained below market rate. As a non-profit co-operative we work to find a balance between current and efficient services and affordability for our membership. Any profits are used to improve the Co-op for the current and future members.
